Twelve Golden Windows and Those Weird Rasin Cookies

A week later they rode off the desert and through the city gates of Taria. They still had plenty of money, though the supply of raisin filled cookies had diminished long ago.

The raisin cookies I mentioned were shirini keshmeshis! (Is that the plural form of shirini keshmeshi? I don't even know, but we're going with it.)

The shirini keshmeshi cookies are to Iranians what chocolate chip cookies are to Americans. So of course I had to make them...

And for someone who hates raisins, I actually enjoyed these cookies a lot!

Of course that may just have been because I was starving and needed something to eat while I was writing...

Now, like chocolate chip cookies everyone has a slightly different recipe. The recipe I used was:

Persian Raisin Cookies

(Shirini Keshmeshi)

1 ½ sticks unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

3 eggs

½ tsp vanilla extract

1 ½ cup flour

1 ½ cup raisins

Firstly, mix the butter and sugar. (Standard cookie baking step.) (Actually, I lied. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees first.) Add the eggs one at a time. Then bloop in the vanilla. Mix flour until you have a smooth fluffy dough. Fold in raisins. Drop teaspoons of dough onto waxed cookie sheet and bake until golden! (12-14 minutes for people who don't know how to bake food "until golden")

And then eat them all in one disgusting display of hunger! (I suggest milk so that you don't choke.)
