Catherine @The Rebelling Muse tagged me! Which is honestly kind of shocking at this point because I usually just steal tags at this point?
Currently, Kace and Lily are in New York, New York, which is pretty crazy right now. While their location might be changed to Washington DC in the next draft, I'm going to look at this as a generic big city rather than one place or another!
Lily:
Lily's parents leave at the beginning of the book for a wedding in Greece (where Lily's mom is from). So Lily is staying at home mostly. Her oldest brother is back from college, so she doesn't even have to go out to get groceries. Instead, she's just hanging out. She's pretty happy honestly to not have to be out all night keeping Kace from doing something stupid and then get up to do school.
Don't get me wrong. She's still trying to keep Kace from accidentally jumping off a really tall building (YOU CAN'T FLY KACE WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS!?), but now she doesn't have to wake up so early to get ready. Just wake up 3 minutes before your class, type "Sorry! My camera isn't working for some reason!" and go with it. She's also listening to music and practicing the guitar, which she put off working on. Makes sure to facetime friends from school often. Really misses her coffee shops and is trying to learn how to make latte art at home. Stress eats some of Kace's extra food.
Kace:
It's very very lucky that Kace's family lives in a house with a gym. It doesn't ACTUALLY have a gym, but it does have a spare room with a heavy bag and speed bag, as well as a small weight collection, treadmill and pull up bar. Kace spends a lot of time running and boxing to burn off energy. With everybody off the streets, there is dramatically less crime and she has nothing to do. Parkour just isn't a fun without any crime to parkour to. Still goes out crime fighting at night because "I already wear a mask and gloves!" However, she's worried about her parents and that worry leads to stress baking. A LOT of stress baking. Like, how is she even finding enough flour and yeast right now. She switches from baking when the kitchen gets to full and will make vegetable platters with increasingly fancy designs and takes them to homeless shelters. The elderly people in her apartment building have taken to pretending they aren't home so they don't have to accept ANOTHER pound cake or pan of cinnamon rolls. She also calls different people from around the world, both to keep up with her friends and to work on her language skills. She's probably going to learn a new language while she puts in some time on the treadmill.
Brent:
Brent is also spending his free time working out. Kace doesn't know it, but he has a small heavy bag (a measly 150 lb) in his room. (If Kace knew about a shirtless Brent boxing she would probably be like "WUT?!" just stare at the wall while Lily cackles.)
Brent also isn't aware the Kace likes to box, so they're just both boxing in their separate homes. Probably while listening to the same old 80's rock songs, which they also don't know the other likes.
He also runs a lot, but he doesn't have access to a treadmill or gym, so he runs outside. He finds it really annoying to run with a mask, so he just runs in less crowded places and makes sure nobody catches up to him.
Brent is also spending his time brushing up on his French slang, because Kace still doesn't know that he knows French and unwittingly talks in front of him. His french is decent, but sometimes Kace talks too fast or throws in too much slang and he doesn't know what she's talking about.
Liam:
Liam spends a lot of his time texting and face timing with his friends (and Lily.) He's teaching himself some random computer coding tricks because he's just that bored. Like Lily, he also misses his coffee shop coffee. Unlike Lily, his house doesn't have a espresso machine (Lily's mom drinks Espresso in the morning, like she did growing up.) His mom doesn't drink any coffee, actually, and his dad drinks Folgers. Liam bravely chokes it down and dreams about the day the coffee shops will open again. Sometimes he gets desperate and drives until he gets to a Starbucks with a drive through. He then sits in the parking lot and does homework and just loops through the drive through every time he needs another cup.
Lily's Brothers:
Lily's brothers are basically playing one continuous game of Mario Kart. They have a score board on the dry erase board and keep track of how many wins they're have been. They also play for daily scores, with the lowest two scores taking out the trash and doing the dishes. One of them has been in the top two the entire time and hasn't done any chores since QT started. All three brothers team up to try and make him lose at the beginning of the day but by the afternoon end up stabbing each other in the back in order to secure second place. They all take turns cooking however and the choreless one (I have forgotten all of their names help) shoulders the bulk of the cooking to even things out. They eat the majority of Kace's baking and have regular movie marathons. Sometimes its themed (like old westerns, golden era films, or war movies) and sometimes its all of the Star Wars films or the Lord of the Rings trilogy. They're currently in the middle of a Hobbit/Lord of the Rings trilogy and haven't moved in over 12 hours except for bathroom breaks and snack refills. Kace and Lily have a bet over whether or not this marathon will kill them. They regularly facetime with their parents.
Lily's parents and youngest brother were in Europe for a wedding when
the virus hit and are stranded on a tiny Greek island while they wait
for the virus to blow over. They're trying to make the most of it, but
are worried for their kids who are alone stateside. They regularly facetime with their kids during which both sides pretend like the other is in a much better location (I wish I was stranded on a beautiful island!) but really they would rather they were just all together, no matter the location.
Kace's parents:
Kace's parents are also in Europe. As a CIA agent in charge of working with people with super abilities, Kace's mom was at a conference in Europe. Kace's dad had also tagged along. He claims it was to recruit new superheros in Europe and tell them about the multi-national training program where they can learn to safely use their abilities (which is partially true) but it was also just to spend time with Kace's mom. They traveled to Greece right before the quarantines hit to support Lily's family.
Kace's teachers and principle:
Are relaxing in their own homes. They're enjoying class a lot more when it doesn't involve occasionally throwing Kace into detention or searching their heads for new grey hairs. They look forward to the reopening of the state with dread and hope that school will be virtual in the fall too, though they don't think it will.
And that's it! I suppose I could do into more minor characters, but I think I've written enough as is! (I might do this tag again with characters from other stories, but don't hold your breath) I'm not tagging anyone, since I have no idea who has been tagged already! But be sure to snag it if you're interested and let me know when you post it!!!

This is fantastic and hilarious, and oh my word, I NEED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE NOW.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAND I'M WORKING ON IT, I'M SORRY
I love that when we say 12 hours is the middle of a Hobbit/LotR marathon, we're not kidding.
ReplyDeleteThe baking part... HILARIOUS!!
And I basically loved every part about Lily's brothers. Such a mood.
They're probably eating meals like hobbits too, so they're really just living that Middle Earth life style :D
DeleteHahaha!!!! Love this!! I'm so glad folks are grabbing my post and running with it...it's so fun seeing everyone's characters in QT! <3
