Literary Drinks I Want To Try

Hey! They drink alcohol in books! I could do a post on that!

*IMMEDIATELY FORGETS EVERY MENTION OF IT IN ANY BOOK EVER*

Smoking Bishop

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

"We will discuss your affairs this very afternoon, over a Christmas bowl of smoking bishop, Bob!"

Smoking Bishop is a type of hot, spiced wine. Sounds like something to drink while reading a good Christmas classic by a window while it snows...

Vesper Martini

Casino Royale by Ian Fleming

THANK GOODNESS FOR JAMES BOND BOOK SERIES.

(Also, Ian Fleming worked in the WWII group that helped resistance groups in Europe and decided where to send commandos.)

Brandy Alexander

For Your Eyes Only by Ian Fleming

Do I like James Bond? Yes

Have I ever read the books? NOPE

Am I still going to capitalize on the books and their mention of booze? YES

Apparently this drink (which is a prohibition-era drink) is made with cognac, crème de cacao, and heavy cream. And in this story the "feminine drink" was a signal between good old 007 and the informant he was meeting.

"Raspberry Cordial"

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

*cough* Red Current Wine *cough*

Can you think of any drinks from books that I'm forgetting?

(Probably since I'm forgetting basically every book I've ever read, LOL)

MK

//Oh, and I turned 21 sometime in the semi recent past so I can drink these now//

Don't drink kids

Correction!

Don't drink, kids.

(But also do not drink children)

  1. any of the drinks mentioned in the redwall series *heart eyes*
also while i dont remember if Edmund was given hot chocolate to go with his Turkish delight in the books, he did in the movie and apparently it was good enough to incite familial betrayal... then again Edmund was a bit of a brat at the beginning *shrug*

  2. Oh these all sound so good. ( Feels guilty because I may have just done a post bashing the James Bond movies. But I loved Daniel Craig)
The vesper drink did look really good!

    1. Oh my gosh don't feel bad! The James Bond movies are DEEPLY flawed (the treatment of women is disgusting, though I do have a bit of hope for No Time to Die. And can we talk about his inability to work with anyone else? It ain't all about you, bro.)
But I still enjoy watching the Daniel Craig ones! (Admittedly the only ones I've watched...) And I want to read at least one of the original books. I have this naive hope that they'll be better, lol

    3. I didn't realize how much till I watched them. Oh me too! Spectre was a bit better than the other ones, so I hope that one will be even better. Yeah, he really struggles with that.
I did enjoy them, mainly because of Daniel Craig. (same XD)
      Oh nice!
