"Sylvester or the Wicked Uncle by Georgette Heyer OR A Book I Never Would Have Picked Up Because Of The Cover"
(Whew. That was a long title.)
Every Tuesday, The Broke and The Bookish hosts a blog prompt link up. This week's prompt is Book Cover Love, and I was going to do a post with my top ten favorite book covers, but instead I'm doing this.
One of my dear friends just walked up to me, handed me a book and said. "Here. Read this and tell me what you think."
Of course, I was going to, no questions asked because 1.) BOOK! and 2.) A really value this persons opinion on books (and just about anything.)
So I tucked it under my arm, and didn't even look at it, (because my friend is here and I don't get to talk to her much.) and then she said, "Just ignore the cover" (or something like that. My brain is currently only thinking WAFFLES*)
So I looked at the cover.
Yep.
I probably wouldn't have picked this in a book store.
But she was right. I loved this book so much.
If you like Pride and Prejudice, I HIGHLY suggest you read this book.
It felt a little slow in the beginning but then.....
Oh, it was perfect!
The bickering! The spunky girl, Phoebe, who is a horse nut who write books, and uses slang she picked up in the stables and *screams*
And don't even get me started on Sylvester! (He's kind of Mr. Dary-ish, but I think I might just like him better.)
And Tom, Poor long suffering Tom who patiently puts up with all of ...this.
And EDWARD! He is the cutest little thing EVER!!!!
Ok, ok, I have to stop before I blurt out EVERY SINGLE DETAIL!!!
So, go read this book.
And thank goodness I have such awesome friends who give me lovely books.
(My TBR pile has doubled in size** because all my awesome friends are giving me books to read)

* I like waffles
** Figuratively speaking. I don't have a physical pile. More like a small pile and a big list.

Lol, I like waffles, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so sad when good books have un-tantalizing covers. :'( They deserve a better chance in the market!!
I'm going to the Library today so I will search for this. Oh, and I also did the Writer's Tag! ^^
You did? So excited! I'm going to hop over to your blog now and leave a completely random comment. (You've been warned!)
DeleteI want to read that book now!!!! What's it really about?
ReplyDeleteI love your blog by the way.
Waffles are so good. Especially with whipped cream, fruit, syrup, chocolate....okay, you get the picture. Lol
I need to broaden my book horizons. Anyone have a couple great book suggestions (other than Sylvester or the Wicked Uncle)? I'd really appreciate them! :D
Another waffle lover!
DeleteIf your looking for more books, have you read the Gallagher Girl Series by Ally Carter? (That's the first thing that popped into my mind, because it's an awesome series and the MC, Cammie, also loves waffles.)
-Mary Kate-
No, I haven't. I'll look into it. :)
DeleteWaffles ARE really good. *Scolds self for not getting any* :D
It's so good!
DeleteAlso, I don't remember if I'm following your blog, (or if you have a blog)
(Why doesn't my brain work?)
I wish I had a blog, but sadly I don't. Lol
DeleteYou know, having parent's permission. :) You may see me in a couple years though...lol.
My brain feels dead right now. Neh.
What are those waffles that have filling inside them called? I keep forgetting. I'm pretty sure I liked them. LOL
Filled waffles? I have no idea what they are, but now I'm hungry. Thanks for that
DeleteHmm, I think I'm thinking of Belgian waffles....oh, no. My cravings are taking me over now. Dang it. Lol
DeleteOh, no. I'm thinking about crepes.....I just looked it up and it looks SO good. Oh my.
Crepes are delightful.
DeleteOh, yes...most definitely.
DeleteBelgium Waffles are teh BEST. *cries because she doesn't have any* :'(
DeleteHi, I just randomly replied in your conversation. lolzy! :D
I now have a tiny army of waffle lovers....muwahahaha!
DeleteTeehee! *Brandishes bottle of syrup*
DeleteThis was very confusing for a second. Why is she swinging a bottle of syrup around?
DeleteIt didn't help that I was thinking cough syrup for some reason...
Um, don't ask. lol
DeleteThe maple syrup bottle was supposed to be my weapon, since I'm in an "army", but........... never mind. lol XD
Maybe we should go with forks and shields that look like waffles.
DeleteYeah.
DeleteLOLZY! xD
Have you read any more of Georgette Heyer's stuff? She wrote LOTS of 'vaguely c18th/early c19th books' and they are all (more or less) hilarious and wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteI have not, but now I am on the search for more.
