Beautiful People: July

So last week, I asked you which character you wanted to hear more about: Kerra, Elvin, Ivy or Grant, and I promised that the next Beautiful People would be about the winner.

Well, Elvin won but in a plot twist, this months Beautiful People will be about your actual favorite person. The one that wasn't on the poll.

That's right.

It's about me.

Please don't leave. It wasn't my fault!
The two authors of this link up (Cait and Sky) decided that this months theme will be about authors.

Don't worry. The very next BP will be about Elvin. Cross my heart and hope to...well, maybe I shouldn't say that.

The Questions:

1. How do you decide which project to work on?
Long Answer: They are all flying around my brain beating it with sticks. Some of them are incomplete, some of them have been around so long that they are old and weak. And some of them have been drinking energy drinks and lifting.
Short Answer: Which ever one is beating on my brain the hardest

2. How long does it usually take you to finish a project?
I just finished the First Draft of my Sleeping Beauty rewrite. That took two months and a half. (Including plotting.) But I only got 3 chapters in out of 32 in those two weeks.

Oh, and don't be upset if it takes you more or less time to get your novels underway. We're doing this for fun. remember? Write at your own pace.

3. Do you have any routines to put you in a writing mood?
Step One: Sit in chair
Step Two: Say to yourself "You are not moving until you get two chapters typed."
Step Three: Type

But I also like to type when it is raining or after the sun goes down.

4. What time of day do you write best.
Between 10 pm and 1 am.

Its dark out and the house is quiet.

5. Are there any authors you think have a similar style to?
I sure hope not. That is something I wouldn't want to inflict on anyone.

6. Why did you start writing and why do you keep writing?
I started when I was eightish, so I don't really remember. Sorry. No tragic superhero backstory.
I keep writing because I love it. (Also see 1.)

7. What's the hardest thing you've ever written?
There is no one project, but I hate writing the mush of the story. Writing romance = bleh.

8. Is there a project that you want to tackle someday, but you don't feel ready for yet?
There is this Romeo and Juliet rewrite, but I feel like I need a lot of time to prep for it and I've already decided on the next couple books I'm going to work on. I'll do it somewhere along the line.
Basically, I need to read the original to rewrite it. and I kind of hate the original.

9. Writing Goals for 2017 and how are they going?
1. Write First Draft of novel (IAD)
2. Second Draft of same novel
3. NaNoWriMo
4. Start the Third Draft

Well, Camp NaNoWriMo didn't work out (I will be doing NaNoWriMo this November. Probably)
Everything is going along according to plan.

10. Describe your writing progress in 3 words (or a gif)
Focused. Determined, (slightly) pathetic.

  1. Nice post. Funny how you talked about not wanting to write mushy love, but you want to write a Romeo and Juliet remake. I think that's filled with a bunch of mushy love.

Anyway, this was really cool. This type of post gives more information about you. That's always fun to read.

    1. It's not that I can't write mush. It's just it is harder for me to add a sprinkling of mush into a action story.

And I just enjoy the fight scenes more

    2. Lol, I was just teasing. Mush can be essential to move a plot forward sometimes. I don't think I've read a lot of Romeo and Juliet. I just know that boy likes girl. Girl likes boy. Girl and boy are from opposing families and cannot like each other. Boy sneaks out to see girl anyway. Both die in the end.

So uplifting, lol. I don't think I've heard of many remakes on that story. You should really do it. I think it would be great.

  2. And here I was all set to do July's BP on Gareth.....darn it!

I betcha that your rewrite will be mushy-free, am I right?

    1. I know. I wanted to do a people-y one :(

The re-write will probably have added mush, since I'll be adding more in.

  3. I was a bit disappointed that this month's Beautiful People was writer-focused, because who wants to read about me? (Answer: Nobody) My darling characters are SO much more interesting. Apparently people feel sorry for them, but I've no idea why?
I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they have miserable lives and I deliberately torment them for emotional wounds/plot/drama/conflict.
Great post. I especially like no. 3! 😂😁

    1. Well, I for one would like to hear more about you.

My characters have "some" drama going on in their lives too. :)

  4. I love reading about other writer's process. The stories beating your brain with sticks, relatable. :D

    1. I just find which ever one is banging pots and pans the loudest, sent him in front of the room and stare at him. He then gets self conscious and makes NO noise.

  5. I prefer writing in the middle of the night too! There's something so calming about the still, quiet hours that makes it easier to concentrate and really get absorbed in the work.
