Pros and Cons of Writing: Part II

Da da duh. Its time for another PROS AND CONS!!!! (Here is the first one)

Pro: Yay! WRITING! WRITING! WRITING!

Con:
*Dramatically flails on keyboard*
How do you make the words go? Help. Help.

Pro: Amazing ideas that strike you as you're eating peanut butter or sipping your latte.

Con:

*Frantically typing*

Must get idea onto paper before it gets away. MUST GET IDEA ON PAPER!

Pro: Writing snacks! (Meaning the snacks you eat while writing and writing about snacks.)

Con: You want to write, but only when you actually HAVE to be doing something else.

Pro: Friends. Writers. Writing friends!

Con: Neither of you are actually writing and are instead crying to each other over email.
"Fix it *crying*"

Pro: Writing and Reading go hand and hand. In fact, you HAVE to read to write.

Con: And reading involves actually pricking up books and *gasp* reading them. Aint nobody got time for that! And how do you decide??Reread an old favorite you KNOW you'll love or plunge uncertainly into a new book that might just scar you for life/have you writing a rant filled post at 2 am?

Pro: Tea, coffee, and the other hot, caffeinated drinks that flue us. (Our writing, not our rage)
Con: Occasionally you run out of coffee and Earl Grey AT THE SAME TIME. And you are too stuck in your ways to drink some other type of tea

(Ok, I think that last one was mostly just me...I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE, FELLOW EARL GREY LOVERS!)

  1. Never had earl gray tea. I'm from the south and the only tea we drink is sweet. Also, (and I feel so awkward bringing this up as I never know how people like being corrected, but I am the grammar police) you spelled fuel as flue. Unless you meant flue. Then forget what I just said.

I always get stuck with the reading one. I tell myself I need to read in order to write better, but hours and a finished book later, I've run out of time. And I totally relate to wanting to write when you can't. That is the story of my life.

    Great post, MK.

    (Are you on goodreads?)

    1. Oh wow. I did (There are A LOT of typos in my posts. Probably because I just type them up and schedule them and I normally DON'T come back and read through them...)

Nope, I am not on goodreads, though I am considering it. Would you suggest it?

    2. I just got on yesterday, but so far I like it. It kind of reminds me of Facebook, which I don't have, but I've seen what Facebook looks like. You can have friends, make comments on their reviews, write reviews for books, mark books as read or that you want to read them. Stuff like that. If you decide to get on, let me know.

I only noticed the one typo. I always get worried about pointing stuff out like that because I never know how the person will react.

  2. Earl grey for the win, I especially love London fogs.

This is so accurate! Especially crying to your writer friends instead of writing.

  3. "How do you make the words go." That is so me XD
It's weird how sometimes I feel super-inspired to write and I write for HOURS and HOURS and I have lots of ideas and it's AMAZING, and other times I just sit there at my laptop, like. Me has forgot how to write. XD

    2. Yep. XD
Also, now that it's summer and I have lots of time to write, I have zero ideas. Guess what's going to happen as soon as September comes? HELLO, IDEAS. XD writers' problems, eh.
