WE RISE!!!// The Rising Author Tag

I was tagged by the fabulous JEM JONES! So go check out her blog (which is super cool.) I personally really like her post, Australian Culture (Mostly The Food)...because I really like food

Tag Rules!
1.  NO TAGGING BACK!
2.  TAG FOUR PEOPLE
3. THANK THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU

*pulls out large lace handkerchief and southern accent*

Why thank you so much for tagging me, Miss Jones. I don't know what I would do without you!

#1: What is the weirdest thing someone has ever said to you about your writing?

Well, I know what the BEST thing was. I made people cry. PLURAL people. (2) I AM THE QUEEN OF ALL!!!

#2: What is the worst thing you ever wrote?

Do you mean worst as in "Oh! You horrible person! How could you be so heartless?"
Because there is a lot and it would take me a while. In fact, one make say I could write a book with it. *laughs at own joke*

Or do you mean, that is the worst writing ever?

Because if its not the first, then my writing is the second.

Here is a weird thing I wrote recently, (because I know this question is actually just begging for snippets):

"Karin wove his dusty horse through the stands, which overflowed with brightly colored rugs and huge piles of flame and clay colored spices. While Karin was distracted, his horse leaned out and took a tentative sniff of one of the piles. Its eyes widened in horror and it flung its head up in horror. And then it sneezed. And sneezed again.

The owner of the stall, a short heavy built man noticed the horse sneezing all over his spices and started to push his way toward them."  -From Draft One of Twelve Golden Windows

#3: What is the most awkward scene you've ever written?

I haven't written an awkward scene, at least not one that comes to mind...Do you mean I was awkward about it...(because I usually skip over those and "leave them for later"...which means never)
or one with an awkward character?

Because that would probably be anything with Lily from Capes, Coffee Shops and Cake
(For anyone who doesn't know, that was my NaNoWriMo superhero bestie book)

#4: On a scale from one to ten, how often do you end up writing more than 3 chapters of the stories you start?

9? Of all the stories I started this year, I wrote at least ten chapters and finished one completely... But before that I never made it past the second chapter.

#5: What is the hardest thing for you to write?

Romance. But not romance as in TENSION or oh-my-gosh-these-dorks-are-so-cute...like couples that are actually together and displaying any kind of affection.

Yay. You love each other. Now stand three feet apart and don't touch.

HEY! NO PDA! You're making me sick.

Except I'm writing...so I'm making me sick.

#6: When you look back at your early writing pieces, what's one thing you can see you've improved in?

Everything. Writing style for starters. Character development. I actually commit to my stories and keep writing them. The plots are a little different from each other now. DIALOG IS MY FAV and there was practically NO dialog in early books...

#7: How do you name characters?

I usually figure out WHO the character is (personality, etc) and then pick ethnicity. If it's set in say...a fantasy world based off ancient Persia, I look at Persian baby names. If they have special powers, I might look for names based on meaning. Or initials, etc.

The reasons vary, but I always have a reason. (Though some times the reason is Oi! This is a cool name!)

Baby name sites.

#8: If you had to pick one genre to write in forever, what would it be?

Fantasy rewrite. Technically, that's a sub-genre, but hey...you could write anything and have in be a fantasy rewrite. Historic fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, etc.

But if I had to pick JUST ONE main genre, it would probably be Fantasy. (My baby)

#9: Which of your characters do you feel most guilty about?

Me? Guilty. I don't feel guilty about anything...

Probably Kace...for no reason what so ever

#10: Which of your characters deserves everything you've given them?

Honestly, none of them deserve it.

I'M SORRY! I LIKE TRAGIC BACKSTORIES AND YOU CHARACTERS ARE MADE TO SUFFER FOR IT!

*weeps*

    1. Romance is the worst and I never can make them have chemistry...unless I DON'T want them too of course.

The torture of writing affection is real....you don't want to go too far but it's so no not normal for no one to touch each other when in love...*sigh*.

His horse wasn't supposed to have such a characters, but *shrugs*

I almost plotted Twelve Golden Windows to have them never interact (well, a total of 4 times. All of which were her giving a decree/command about him)

    1. Someday, someone will read our books and look up the characters names...just for a laugh.

And then they'll be like, "
Oh look! His name means soulmate. What a coincidence.
      *reader peers at the screen*
      OR IS IT!"

    1. Way! I can't wait to see it!

I kind of feel like our generation of writers will have no romance in it and we'll just be like "And they liked each other. Whee. Now lets get back to the fun stuff."
