Writing Update from Camp NaNo '18 and Current Project

You may be wondering what I was working on in July and why I haven't posted any hilarious posts that explains my Camp NaNoWriMo project and showers you in snarky snippets...

You may also be wondering what I've been working on since then...

Well, lets start with the easy one: What I've Been Working On Since Then...

It's nothing.

Because college.

*gag*

Let me tell you a little story.

Since I'm one of those crazy people who apply for college, I applied months before normal applications started at just my #1 choice college. I decided that if I didn't get in, I could apply in January at all the other colleges on my list.

And I got in! I went to summer orientation, chatted with my roommate...

And then decided in mid June that I didn't want to major in animal science. And since the school I was going to specialized in animal science and basically nothing else that I wanted to do...I dropped my application.

I applied at another school, but didn't think I'd get in since it was early July by then. The admission office there thought I would have a chance, but I settled myself for the idea that I wouldn't get in.

I signed myself up for classes at the community college near by, planned some fun trips, (if I'm not moving out, I might as well travel!)

And then, four weeks (exactly) before move in day at this college, they sent me an email saying I was accepted...

Now, since I didn't think I was going to college for another semester (or two)... I. didn't. buy. any. of. the. stuff. I'd. need.

So I've been flailing around trying to get everything ready. I did get some stuff written, but not enough to bother mentioning.

Now! For what I did during Camp NaNoWriMo! (Which I won, BTW)

I was planning to get four novels to the completely plotted, ready to start, write right now stage...But I didn't.

I basically made a lot of progress on two books (one of which wasn't even on the original list!) and a few lines or paragraphs written for the others + brainstorming.

Both projects are still secret, but I'll give you some little goodies...

STORY #1:

A stand alone fantasy novel.

*Exact excerpts from my plotting + character notes*
*Names taken out*

  • Which one is the spider killer? (Neither one is afraid of spiders…[girl] is interested in them (like pick it up and let it crawl over her hand “Oh. This one is harmless. See the marks…” and he is hates them, but isn’t really afraid of them. He just doesn’t like killing them. If they’re both sitting there, he’ll be like “[girl]. Spider.” And if not, he’s the kind of person who stands 2 feet away from it and throws a book)

  •  He HATES onions. If bread has onions in it HE WILL NOT EAT IT!

  • WALNUTS! WALNUTS! WALN...ew that's a chestnut. gross. AND NO! IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! HOW DARE YOU!

  • PRAAAAAAAAAAAANK WARS! (Salted tea?)

  • Kitchen raids + old lady who will beat you with her wooden spoon for food theft

STORY #2
Stand alone contemporary novel

  • LOTS OF PUNS

  • [boy] has this disgust for farmers

[girl] mocks it and starts humming “The Farmer and the Cowman should be friends” from Oklahoma every time he says something. @ first he doesn’t know what it is, but then his sister watches it and he’s like HEY!

So what do you think? And do you know any good cheese puns? I ran out...

-MK
