Dual Book Review: Open Road Summer and P.S. I Like You // GUEST POST BY LILAH!

Before I started college, I thought "It won't be so bad! I'll have lots of time to blog and write and read!"

Well...College started and I was mostly right.

I do have a small chunk of time...

The problem is... by the time I've gotten through classes and homework if I try to write, read, or blog my poor old brain throws a fit and goes on strike.

So I've been placating it by do minimal amounts of writing, reading only when its super interesting and teaching myself new words in french, new signs in PSE and magic tricks.

What I really SHOULD do is take a hiatus...but I JUST did that in July and, if I'm being totally honest... I don't wanna. So I aint gonna.

INSTEAD! I'm having a small pack of bloggers guest post on my blog! So keep on the look out! Fun and interesting stuff is coming your way!

The very first of these wonderful bloggers is LILAH from THE SINGING WRITER!!! Now, I apologize if at some point I switch to calling her Lia...Our little secret (that is not a secret) is that I know Lia IRL and that's what I call her. So I sometimes switch to calling her that out of habit (Also out of laziness efficiency because it's shorter.)

Lilah just posted a MASSIVE AMAZING summer playlist on her blog and I highly suggest you go check it out! But only if you want a giant pile of new songs for your playlist...

Hello

It is I!!

Not MK…………

*laughing*

If you are wondering who this strange imposter is, I suppose that shall remain a mystery until the end of the post. Or will it?? *mysterious music* *also is obvious from the title*

(...oops. -MK)

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

As you all know, MK reviewed this book several weeks ago, now i shall take my turn finally. :)

This book, y’all. It completely changed my life. It’s so inspiring and light hearted. But also, it cuts you deeply, making you see yourself in a totally different light. I relate to one character especially, because she and I are a lot alike. She writes songs, I write songs. Except she is a famous country singer and I am not……. Dee actually inspired me to pick out my pseudonym that I blog under.

My favorite song from the book goes like this:

But i gave you every ounce of fight in me,
And i have no regrets.
If I was going to lose you,
At least I lost you to my best
But it felt so wrong,
So tangled up in blue
Like that old Dylan song,
Like i don’t know who i am
Now that you’re gone.

I would recommend this book to readers over 14 as it has some mature elements in it. Nothing too bad but I would be cautious.

P.S I Like You by Kasie West

Can i just say, i think that Kasie West writes the most rom-com books ever. This one, however, hit a little too close to home. As in, I thought Kasie West was spying on me and then she made my life more glamorous than it is, and she wrote a book. It was seriously creepy reading this.

But wow, this book is amazing. I loved every single second of it and I couldn’t get enough. Lily is definitely more like me than Dee, but I still love them both. :)

My favorite song lyric from this book is:

I've turned waiting into a form of art
Tied twisted lines around my broken heart
To keep me hanging on for one more day
I’ve painted on a crooked smile
Hung the tears to dry awhile
Because i knew that you’d come back to stay
But my…..arms are empty
And my…..heart’s in pieces
And my…..soul is twisting
And my…...throat is aching
Because I’ve finally woken up to find:
That I’ve been Left Behind.

I would also recommend this book to readers 14 and up. Nothing too bad either, but just to be on the safe side.

I hope you all enjoy this book reviews!!!!

Lilah
