Cinderella by K. M. Shea
Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell
Ok. I've never actually read this book. But I liked Fangirl and it DOES has Pumpkins (a whole pumpkin patch actually) so...
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving
One of the GREATEST pumpkin heads, the headless horseman. Though I must say...a pumpkin doesn't seem like the must sustainable head replacement, you know? But then again it is a bit more balanced than your standard garden-found head replacement. It's probably a little stronger than say, a watermelon. And more head shaped than a cantaloupe or, I don't know, a tomato. And it DID happen during the Fall so I suppose he didn't have many options. (An apple would just look silly, you know? And it's hard to get the flaming eyes vibe.)
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
The "pumpkin" in question is a rusty orange car, but its a Cinderella retelling so I'm going to let it slide.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
A Queen of Hearts retelling set in Wonderland, featuring various fairy tale characters, include Peter Pumpkin Eater (who had a wife and couldn't keep her.) Pumpkins play an important part in the novel and a pumpkin patch is the setting for an important scene.
I need to read pumpkin heads, love sleepy hollow even if it is kinda short.
